This week is Kennedy's first experience with her "big girl bed." Sunday evening we set up two twin beds in her room and put her pretty, new bedding on them (ladybugs, of course).
Night 1: We put her in the bed and she cried and cried and cried (only about 5 minutes, but seemed like an eternity to Mommy). Then she resigned herself to the fact that it was bedtime and went to sleep. At this point, she had not yet figured out that she could get out of bed by herself.
Night 2: Three times she was put in the bed...and three times she got out of the bed and came into the living room to "yay on couch wit Daddy." Finally, she fell asleep deeply enough on the couch that we moved her to the bed. She got up around 3:30 and came to our bedroom to get in bed with us.
Night 3: I put her in bed around 8:00. She was up in no time and in the living room. "Hi Daddy!" I took her back to the bedroom and put her in the bed. I told her she had to stay in bed because it was bedtime and she was a big girl. "Yes ma'am." She managed to stay there for a few minutes longer, but no deal. She fell asleep in Daddy's lap in the recliner. He moved her to her bed. SHE STAYED THERE ALL NIGHT LONG! Wooo hoooo.
Around 5:45 this morning, we hear the pitter patter of little feet on the hard wood. She stops at the bedroom door and says, "Hi Mommy." Proceeds to the kitchen. "Hi Daddy." We praised her long and hard for staying all night long in her big girl bed.
I'm working hard on getting this "big girl" concept going really well before Jude gets here. Breaks my heart a little more each day.
