Please God, no tomatoes...

Most nights our evening schedule for the kids following dinner includes baths, jammies, medicine (to whomever needs it) then teeth brushing. After all this bedtime prepwork is concluded, they gather on either Kennedy's or Jude's bed for a Bible story, prayer time and to watch a short YouTube clip on the IPhone (usually Mickey Mouse or some other cartoon character). Note: watching this clip is referred to as "watching mouse in Daddy's pocket."

Prayer requests are sometimes quite amusing and Cary and I often bite our lips trying not to laugh. Several months ago, Kennedy became obsessed with the fact that our house might catch on fire and someone might get hurt. Her nightly prayer requests began to include "No fires on the house and no fires on a person." Jude quickly jumped on the band wagon with that one and mentioned it when his turn came around too. He also very sweetly always remembers to mention that we should pray for "Kenny's mosquito bites." (That's what he calls her.) This is mentioned whether she has any or not.

On May 2, 2008, my in-laws house took a direct hit from the F4 tornado that ripped through Van Buren county. It took around 9 months to rebuild and since they moved back into their house, Kennedy has added to her prayer requests. After "No fires on the house and no fires on a person," she says "no tornadoes on the house and no tornadoes on a person." As is usually the case, Jude followed suit the other night and said "no tomatoes on the house and no tomatoes on a person." Cary and I gritted our teeth to keep from laughing and had to shush Kennedy. You just don't laugh at a kid's prayer requests!

Absolutely precious! I must admit, from the title of the post I was a bit miffed as to where it was going, but I loved it!
